Happiness
2017-2022 CDMX
The unsolvable mysteries of my childhood, transformed over time into the fixations and longings of my adult life, inspired this group of objects—its colors, forms, and the idea of joy as resistance. Happiness is a series of playful objects created to make me smile. With them, I built my own small world of extravagant fantasies and stories with happy endings. This series is a reflection on urban playgrounds, which embodied the merging of politics and youthful idealism in 20th century Mexico—the years of my childhood—as their designs were influenced by the union between public politics and urban sculpture. It is an optimistic vision; the result of a childhood nurtured by the utopian promises of neoliberalism.
