Platalea Studio was founded by Lilia Corona and Rodrigo Lobato, a nomadic artist duo now based in Mexico City.
Drawn to the intersections between Mexico's complex imaginary and the broader contemporary world, it is a space to explore cultural encounters and the transgressions of modernity, as well as a harbinger for the world that will come after.
As we explore distinct histories, mystical landscapes, cuisines, family traditions, and expressions of gender and sexuality, we find magic in the syncretism that defines are world today. We translate the coming together of different lives and ways of living into sculptures and installation that bring craft, body, belief systems and technology together.
Lilia Corona graduated in 2018 from Universidad Iberoamericana (UIA), School of Design, Mexico City. And graduated in 2021 from INBAL, National Institute of Fine Arts and Literature, Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado, School of Fine Art “La Esmeralda”, Mexico City.
